Indications & Dosage
Pernicious anemia, liver disorders and vitamin deficiency, general disability, decreased resistance to infection, anorexia, fatigue, nervous exhaustion, preparation for surgery: Syp: Adults: 1-3 tsp daily. Children: 1-3 tsp daily Prophylaxis of iron, folic acid and vitamin deficiencies in pregnancy: Cap: Adults: 1 cap daily. Children: Not recommended
Contraindications
Hemochromatosis, haemolytic anaemia, haemosiderosis, diverticular diseases, intestinal obstruction, red cell aplasia, repeated blood transfusion, symptoms of intolerance.
Precautions
GI disorder, inflammatory bowel disease, intestinal stricture.
Interactions
Tetracycline, penicillamines, antacids.
Side Effects
Nausea, diarrhoea, constipation, GI upset, staining of teeth, dark stool, epigastric discomfort
