Composition

Inj: Per ml: Rabies immune globulin (human) equiv to 150 IU; 2 ml (300 IU) vial.

Indications & Dosage

Passive immunization and Post-exposure prophylaxis against rabies infection: BY LOCAL INFILTRATION, OR BY IM INJ: Adult & Children: 20 units/kg, dose administered by infiltration in and around the cleansed wound; if the wound not visible or healed or if infiltration of whole volume not possible, give remainder by IM injection into anterolateral thigh (remote from vaccination site).

Contraindications

IgA deficiency, interference with live virus vaccines.

Precautions

History of typical reactions to blood or blood products, risk factors for thrombotic events or acute renal failure. Monitor for adverse reactions and anaphylactoid reactions during infusion.

Interactions

May interfere with live vaccines to induce an immune response and a suitable interval should separate their administration.

Side Effects

Anaphylaxis, facial oedema, injection site pain and swelling arthralgia, buccal ulceration, chest tightness, dizziness, dyspnea, glossitis, tremor
