Indications & Dosage
Type 1 Diabetes mellitus: BY SC INJ: Adults & Children: 0.2 to 0.4 units of insulin per kg of body weight can be used as initial total daily insulin dose in patients with type 1 diabetes, before a meal or, if necessary, soon after a meal. The dosage of insulin should be adjusted to maintain pre-meal and bedtime blood glucose of 80-140 mg/dL (Children < 5 yr: 100-200 mg/dL). Type 2 Diabetes mellitus: BY SC INJ: Adults & Children: The recommended starting dose in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus is 10 units once daily, before a meal or, if necessary, soon after a meal. The dosage of insulin should be adjusted to maintain pre-meal and bedtime blood glucose of 80-140 mg/dL (Children < 5 yr: 100-200 mg/dL).
