Composition
Susp: Per 5 ml: Aluminum hydroxide 215 mg magnesium hydroxide 80 mg, simeticone 25 mg. Tab: Aluminum hydroxide 282 mg, magnesium hydroxide 85 mg, simethicone 25 mg.
Indications & Dosage
Hyperacidity, distension, flatulence, heartburn, dyspepsia, hiatus hernia, peptic ulcer: Susp: Adults: 1-2 tsp between meals and at bed time. Children 5-12 yrs: half adult dose. Above 12 yr: same as adult dose. Tab: 1-2 chewed or sucked between meals and at bedtime.
Precautions
Renal impairment, patients on low phosphate diet, hepatic impairment. Antacids may damage enteric coatings designed to prevent dissolution in the stomach.
Interactions
May alter absorption of tetracycline, Fe salts, H2-receptor antagonists, INH, warfarin, quinidine.
Side Effects
Vomiting, nausea, diarrhoea, constipation, intestinal obstruction (large dose).
