SPASMOMEN

Composition

Tab 40 mg: Otilonium bromide 40 mg.

Indications & Dosage

GI spasm, premedication for GI procedure, GI disorders associated with anxiety and agitation: Adults: 1 tab 3 times daily. Children: Not recommended.

Contraindications

Myasthenia gravis, paralytic ileus, toxic mega colon, and prostatic enlargement pyloric stenosis, coma, stupor, hypersensitivity to the drug.

Precautions

Downs syndrome, elderly, gastro-esophageal reflux disease, diarrhoea, ulcerative colitis, autonomic neuropathy, acute myocardial infarction, hypertension, conditions characterized by tachycardia (including hyperthyroidism, cardiac insufficiency, cardiac surgery), pyrexia, and in individuals susceptible to angle-closure glaucoma.

Interactions

Amantadine, digoxin, phenothiazines atenolol, tricyclic antidepressants.

Pregnancy

Contraindicated in pregnancy.

Lactation

Contraindicated or not recommended.

Side Effects

Constipation, transient bradycardia (followed by tachycardia, palpitation and arrhythmias), reduced bronchial secretions, urinary urgency and retention, dilatation of the pupils with loss of accommodation, photo-phobia, dry mouth, flushing and dryness of the skin, confusion (particularly in the elderly), vomiting nausea, and giddiness. Rare: Angle-closure glaucoma may occur.
