Composition
Tab: Calendar pack containing 12 tab (blue) of es-tradiol 2 mg each, 10 tab (white) of 2 mg estradiol and norethisterone 1 mg each, 6 tab (red) of estradiol 1 mg each.
Indications & Dosage
Primary and secondary amenorrhoea, Pre-and Postmenopausal symptoms, Deficiency symptoms after oophorectomy or radiological castration for non-carcinomatous diseases: Adults (female): 1 estradiol tab daily for 11 days then 1 combined tab daily for 10 days followed by 7 tab-free days. Start on fifth day of menstruation. Children: Not applicable.
Contraindications
Impaired hepatic excretory function such as Dubin-Johnson & Rotor syndromes, sickle cell anaemia, acute or chronic liver disease, jaundice, porphyria, disorders of lipid metabolism, oestrogen-dependent carcinomas, endometriosis, undiagnosed genital bleeding, pregnancy, lactation, history of, or predisposition to, thrombophlebitis, thromboembolic disorders, cerebrovascular disease, history of pruritus, during pregnancy deteriorating otosclerosis, idiopathic jaundice or pemphigoid gestations (herpes gestations).
Precautions
Hypertension, myocardial or renal disease, asthma, varicose veins, epilepsy, chloasma, uterine fibro-myomata, risk of breast cancer and endometrial carcinoma; examine BP, pelvic organs & breasts before & regularly during treatment.
Interactions
Diuretics, antihypertensives, liver enzyme inducing drugs.
Side Effects
GI disturbance, nausea, vomiting, weight gain, breast tenderness & enlargement, withdrawal bleeding, sodium retention with oedema, liver function disorders, jaundice, rashes, chloasma, headache, endometrial carcinoma in postmeno-pausal women.
